Until only a short while ago Damon Kirkham has been best known as one half of influential drum'n bass duo Instra:mental, a group he founded together with Al Green aka Boddika in 2000. At the same time as Instra:mental have started to shed their d'n'b roots, focusing on more experimental electro and dubstep sounds with their productions and releases on their own Nonplus imprint, Kirkham has increasingly stepped to the fore as a prolific solo producer under the name Jon Convex, most recently founding his own imprint, Convex Industries.

With his fellow Instra:mental mate ripping up dancefloors as Boddika, Jon Convex is paves his own direction with a strong follow up to his 'Convexations' EP on Martyn's 3024. 'Radar' has a moody depth, stern razor synths and preened punchy beats whilst 'Vacuum States' pads aquatic bass deliciously. Excellent.
