Until only a short while ago Damon Kirkham has been best known as one half of influential drum'n bass duo Instra:mental, a group he founded together with Al Green aka Boddika in 2000. At the same time as Instra:mental have started to shed their d'n'b roots, focusing on more experimental electro and dubstep sounds with their productions and releases on their own Nonplus imprint, Kirkham has increasingly stepped to the fore as a prolific solo producer under the name Jon Convex, most recently founding his own imprint, Convex Industries.

Instra:mental's Jon Convex has been buzzing since his recent solo debut on 3024. For 'Pop That P' on Naked Lunch, Convex fuses diving and scouring synths and an upfront juke-inspired vocal loop over a locked 4/4. The flip plunges further with a Drexciya-styled, foreboding groove.
