Inspired by the sound of Detroit, Ian took up production and released his début EP as 'Memory Tree' in 1995. His first album 'Desert Scores' was released to great critical acclaim in 1997 on the legendary UK techno label Ferox Records. The album marked a change in style and enabled Ian to be seen not only as a Techno producer, but also as an experimental artist exploring new sounds and styles, often with a strong jazz influence. He went on to release several more productions on the UK's supreme Peacefrog label. Besides his production abilities, Ian O'Brien, is also an in-demand DJ, drawing crowds as far afield as South Africa, Singapore, and Brazil.
