Uniting Cheap Records' core members Patrick Pulsinger, Erdem Tunakan and Gerhard Potuznik for the first time, iO was founded with the concept in mind of releasing four individual records, each titled after a parameter for shaping analogue waveforms: Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release. Especially the last two recordings, originally bundled as a double 12", are considered to be classics by many for their ingenious use of jazz elements, evident in such memorable tracks as Claire or Libre (later licensed to Mo' Wax). The entire series was re-issued in 1995 as the double CD ADSR - 90 Minutes in the Eyes of iO, now a sought after collector's item.

The Double-Album ADSR - 90 Minutes In The Eyes Of iO was reviewed:
Legendary release comprising all three iO records 'Attack', 'Decay' and 'Sustain Release' on one album. Ranging from hard techno tracks to uplifting and timeless classics such as 'Claire' and 'Crossroads', the importance of this album is hard to put into words. Classic!
