Formed in 2010, Tri Angle, a record label helmed by Robin Carolan of 20 Jazz Funk Greats, aims to mirror the eclectic spirit that has defined the XXJFG ethos, as well as providing a safe haven for artists who specialize in a very different kind of pop music, one that's been dragged through multiple parallel dimensions and re-emerged back on earth spooked and just a little bit messed up. Artists like oOoOO or Balam Acab have been recently given labels like 'witch house' or 'chillwave' to describe their fusion of gothic wave pop and dubsteppish beats, and were curious what Tri Angle comes up with next.

Possibly our favourite Tri Angle act, Holy Other, drops his debut full-length, and 'Held' pretty much lives up to the well-deserved hype, exploring an idiosyncratic universe of slow-motion pop with nine moody tracks that slowly drift, stumble and dance their way around layered vocal fragments and revolving drones. Awesome!
