With roots in the LA hip hop scene, Sumach Valentine a.k.a. Gonjasufi already featured on Flying Lotus' 2009 album 'Los Angeles' as a guest artist, but it wasn't until his debut album 'A Sufi And A Killer' that he e merged as one of the strongest voices in the US indie music scene. Combining influences from Soul, folk and psychedelic rock with sample-heavy, lo-fi hip-hop production aesthetics, Gonjasufi blazes through styles and genres at a highly impressive pace, one minute sounding like Madlib and like Tom Waits crooning over Led Zeppelin in the next. One of the most exhilarating debuts of the year 2010.

Tokimonsta: "I already knew the sample that was used in the beat, but hearing Gonja Sufi on it was just madness. This song is intense in all the best ways."

Delivering one of the most exhilarating debuts of the year 2010, Gonjasufi blazes through styles and genres at an impressive pace, combining influences from Soul, folk and psychedelic rock with sample-heavy, lo-fi hip-hop aesthetics. Think Tom Waits meets Led Zepplin meets FlyLo. Amazing.
