Gold Panda Gold Panda Gold Panda Music Producer (MP3 Downloads) Artist Ghostly International
Initially Gold Panda spent his day-job time behind the counters of various houses of ill repute - adult bookstores, record shops - finding that the two were equally seedy. He spent the rest of his waking hours building up a library of original, dizzyingly eclectic electronic music incorporating a disparate mix of influences and source material. The results were gleaming instrumental hip-hop tracks saturated with bright colors and sublimely chopped-up vocal samples.

Gold Panda releases four new tracks, showing a change in direction from the pretty sonic clutter of his previous output to a more reduced approach to arrangement. Ideas ebb and evolve more slowly, balanced elegantly between instrumental and electronic, the 'Trust Intro' drone darn stunning too.

Ghostly compile Gold Panda's earliest releases onto one album, with his ingenious fuzzy electronica hits such as 'Quitters Raga' and 'Back Home' still shining alongside his more experimental downtempo works from his debut 'Before' EP and the rare track 'Like Totally'. Awesome material for fans and newcomers.

You (Track 01 on this EP) was reviewed:
The man from Chelmsford (home of Ceephax and Squarepusher) was one of the high flyers this year with his releases on Ghostly International, most notably his brilliant debut album 'Lucky Shiner'. Its opener and single, 'You', was a genuine pop electronica hit and quickly became Gold Panda's signature tune.

Taken from his debut full-length, Gold Panda's 'Snow & Taxis' is a perfect example of how his dazzling electronic soundscapes shine even brighter with the right remixes. Cologne's Glitterbug offers an epic ambient rework and upcoming UK talent Throwing Snow delivers a very lush punchy version. Exquisite!
