Daniel Gardner, a.k.a Friviolous, is best known for his releases on the Karloff label and most recently on ~scape, where he delivers his own version of experimental house that stretches the definition of the genre as far as possible. His tracks liberally quote influences as diverse as jazz, folk and even country, either through the use of samples or with live instrumentation played by Gardener himself, who is a classically trained pianist. His live acts are equally eclectic and famous for employing a range of self-made sound sources, like the 'Frivolous Patented Electromagnetic knife', the 'Broken-Ruler Music Box' and the Double 'Cable-Tub' Bass. Originally hailing from Vancouver Frivolous now lives in Berlin.

The Album Meteorology was reviewed:
Third album from Berlin-based Daniel Gardner sees his unique melodic dancefloor energy showing a maturer turn from 2007's 'Midnight Black Indulgence'. Luxuriously curved exotic tones and bouncing padded bass are balanced by mellower moments, brilliant as a listening album as well as one for the floor.
