Alongside Drexciya and Aux 88, Ectomorph has been one the major groups triggering a surge of interest in Detroit Electro during the mid-90s. Ectomorph defined a distinct sound of their own - reduced 808 grooves interspersed with cold and minimal yet incredibly funky analogue synth riffs, as evident on their hugely influential Debut EP from 1995. Today Ectomorph consists of Brendan M. Gillen and Erika Sherman, who also run the Interdimensional Transmissions label and collaborate with people such as DJ Godfather or Sal Principato of Liquid Liquid.
