Born in London and raised in Long Island, New York, Daniel Dumile, also known as MF Doom (the 'MF' stands for Metal Face in case you were wondering), began his rap career freestyling incognito at open-mic events in Manhattan, covering his face by putting a stocking over his head. Inspired by Marvel Comics supervillain Doctor Doom, and seeking an alter ego that would allow him to take the rap world by storm, Doom has rarely been seen without his trademark mask. Doom's first commercial success came in 2004 with the album 'Madvillainy' created with producer Madlib under the group name Madvillain. Released by Stones Throw Records, the album brought Doom to a mainstream audience. His next step towards mainstream recognition was with 'The Mouse and the Mask,' a collaborative effort with DJ Danger Mouse in 2005 under the group name Danger Doom. The Title of Doom's latest album 'Born Like This,' was inspired by the poem 'Dinosauria, We' by poet Charles Bukowski. Doom samples a performance of the poem for the track 'Celz'
