The Ostgut label has grown out of the phenomenal Ostgut club in East Berlin that today is even wider known under the name of its new incarnation Berghain/Panorama Bar. The label was initiated as a platform for Berghain and Panorama Bar's residents as well as other artists the club has grown fond of over the time in its two locations. Stylistically it is open as possible without losing sight of the dance floor. It is strongly linked to the philosophy of the club as it pleases fans of harder techno (Berghain) and playful deep house (Panorama Bar) at the same time. Running just over two years the label has already established a standing far across the city borders with a few mixes, 14 divers Maxi releases, two LPs and a soundtrack for an unique event that took place in the club: Shut Up And Dance! Updated, a ballet presented by the Staatsballet Berlin combining so called 'high culture' of classical ballet with dance music and club culture.

Ostgut Ton's vinyl debut had Marcel Dettmann team up with Ben Klock for quite a perfect label launch. 'Dawning' is a moody techno affair of bleepy arpeggios and washed out chords. Backed by the crisp and bouncy (and brilliantly titled) 'Dead Man Watches The Clock'.
