Dusseldorf born Andy Vaz founded Background Records in 1997 with a vision deeply rooted in the early Motor City whilst embracing a modern minimalistic style not only intended for dance floor use. His strong appreciation for deep house music led Vaz to start a second label called A Touch Of Class in 2000. The label's 50th and last release came out in 2006 and Background was superseded by Vaz' new label Yore.
