One of Germany's highest valued producers and an illustrious entrepreneur in the music scene, Koze has come a long way since he became a star in early German hip hop times with a 2nd place in the German DMC Championships in 1990, his combo Fischmob and their numerous album releases. But this Marrakesh born music lover has/had more to offer than just sticking to a limited genre, being interested in many facets of electronic music, always reinventing himself without the fear of loosing a toughly won fan base. This fellow's productions (as DJ Koze, Adolf Noise, and as part of International Pony) and DJ sets remain a class of their own concerning individuality, so it is no coincidence that he is highly favoured by knowledgeable listeners and fellow musicians/producers/DJs. But if you imagine somebody too seriously involved in his music, you forget his approach is always ironic towards the strangeness of the world and his own persona.

It's getting hot hot hot. The best thing to take to the beach is certainly a great DJ mix in your earplugs, and this month wasn't short on first-rate specimen: Kode9, Michael Mayer and dOP mix albums all feature in this newsletter, and Ben Klock even claims more...
Great single by DJ Koze on his increasingly brilliant Pampa Records label. Two long tracks, constructed in epic Moodymann or Theo Parrish fashion, but always featuring little DJ Koze tongue-in-cheek details, telling you that all is not to be taken so seriously after all. Recommended.
Nice title, should be my postal address.
