Hailing from Landshut in Southern Germany, Christopher Rau moved to Hamburg some time ago, since it seemed the perfect city for the young producer's enigmatic deep house sound. Releasing his music on the esteemed Smallville label, also as part of collaboration project Bon & Rau, he has further founded the highly promising Dérive imprint.

The EP Twentyfour Ways was reviewed:
With an irresistibly cuddly cover artwork and four excellent deep house tracks to come with it Smallville has yet another winner on its hands. Uncanny Valley's C-Beams lead off the pack with an airy Detroit jam, followed by earthy grooves by Christopher Rau and trippy excellence by Benjamin Brunn. Brilliant.
