Also known under his Beat Pharmacy and Echologist guises, Brendon Moeller was originally the drummer of a South African indie band, who tried to convince his band members to move to New York, but eventually ended up moving there by himself. To compensate for the loss of his collaborators, Moeller involved himself in electronic production, and when house music legend François K heard a demo of Moeller's Beat Pharmacy project, he immediately signed the producer to his Deep Space Media label. Moeller's unique sound can be described as a fusion of dub-techno and more organic afro-disco sound and has consequently been in high demand by a wide range of labels, from minimal techno imprints like Apnea to neo-disco outlets like Eskimo Recordings. In 2010 Moeller has launched his own imprint, Steadfast.
This Maxi-Single is featured in Update #041:
Magda, Martyn, Modeselektor
Compilations have been the big thing this November, and no matter whether your poison's techno, dubstep, juke, or hip-hop, this month had something in store for you: Ostgut Ton's 'Fünf', Modeselektor's 'Modeselektion', Ghettophiles 'Overkill' and Listen Up's more...
Always innovating and challenging the dub-techno template, Brendon Moeller drops this ace release on Delsin sub-label Ann Aimee. 'Close Up' trips rhythmically and gallops with noisy microscopic details whilst 'Mobility' kicks deep with tingling dub bubbles. Killer!
