When People question the authenticity of a piece of work, in Black Devil Disco Club's case, the legitimacy of the group's claim that its rare (and futuristic sounding) 1978 debut album 'Disco Club' was truly produced at that time, not two decades later, it makes people take notice. When something as fleeting as an idea is ahead of its time, it is most usually met by the mockery of those who don't understand it. When a piece of art work is ahead of its time, people don't immediately appreciate its forward thinking creator, or the fruits of his/her labor. Luckily for Black Devil Disco Club, however, Rephlex Records unearthed and rereleased 'Disco Club' in 2004, leading to a great resurgence of interest for the French pioneers of electronic disco and their sound. In addition to the rerelease, Luke Vibert, working under his disco acid alias, Kerrier District, was asked by Rephlex to take on the lead remix of 'Disco Club' for a remix album. Black Devil Disco Club is comprised of Bernard Fevre and Jacky Giordano, both French producers of library music, working under the pseudonyms Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge respectively. To achieve their futuristic sound on 'Disco Club' (which was made in a recording studio in the suburbs of Paris) the duo employed the use of synths, occasional tape loops and a drummer, and never had the chance to sequence with computers and MIDI because the technology didn't even exist yet. Since 2004, the group has taken to the stage once again as well as produced three albums: '28 After', 'Black Devil In Dub' and Eight Oh Eight,' all on Lo Recordings.

France's Bernard Fevre returns with a brand new album of his signature dark disco sound on Lo Recordings. Featuring high profile guests such as Nancy Sinatra, Jon Spencer, Afrika Bambaataa and Claire Evans of YACHT in some poptastic, dusky italo-bass driven steamers. Recommended!
