Basic Channel is the project of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, owners of Berlin's well known record store Hardwax and the Dubplates & Mastering studios. Commonly credited for developing the dub-techno style with their first releases in 1994 and 1995, the pair has since dedicated their production work to the fusion of dub and electronic music and runs the Basic Channel label family, which includes the labels Main Street, Chain Reaction for deeper and dubbier techno, Rhythm & Sound, Burial Mix, Basic Replay and Wackie's.
