Started by Rocky Jones in 1985 to release Steve 'Silk' Hurley's 'Music Is The Key', DJ International was quick to become one of two labels representing the original sound of Chicago house music, the other being Larry Sherman's Trax Records. More hits followed in short succession with Chip E.'s classic sample stutter 'Like This', Farley Jackmaster Funk's 'Love Can't Turn Around', and Hurley's 'Jack Your Body', which went to #1 in the UK pop charts in January 1987.

Chicago is a state of mind. 30 years of house music history have made Chicago a mythical, imaginary place, only loosely related to the actual city.

Bam Bam's first ever released track from 1986, 'You've Been Messin Around' is a little known gem, which should definitely raise a few heads when played out. Banging drums, great spoken lyrics, and a killer, hand-played synthline - all the ingredients are there for a bona-fide classic.
