Attracted by the sounds of Chicago and Detroit, Düsseldorf based DJ and producer Andy Vaz entered the stage in 1997. Long before minimal techno became a genre, Andy has already been concentrating on providing a cultural conduit for more minimal electronic music, between Düsseldorf, San Francisco, Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, London, Chicago, South Africa, Monterrey, Perth and countless other cities around the world. While his earlier releases on his first label Background tended more to embrace the classic Motor City Sound, his following releases on the freshly founded Yore label and on Background's sister label A Touch of Class reflect his passion for deep pounding house.

The Album Straight Vacationing was reviewed:
Andy Vaz long anticipated new album epitomizes the spirit of his revered Yore imprint: pure house music, oscillating between the poles of cool techno-futurism and sweaty jazz grooves. Eight slamming tracks and a must for fans of Detroit and Chicago styles.
