Raised on a steady diet of jazz, Detroit techno and 'improbable American or German vinyls', Sébastien Devaud has become one of the most remarkable artists to emerge out of the French electronic music scene. His mother being an opera singer and music teacher, Devaud has had little fear of contact with the classical music world, and frequently incorporates elements of pop and classical music into his own techno and house music productions. His own label, Infiné, is dedicated to this open approach as well, releasing diverse music by artists like Francesco Tristano, Danton Eeprom, and Clara Moto.

The Album Impermanence was reviewed:
Few artists are blessed with the boldness and ability to fluently switch between dancefloor techno, downbeat pop, and neo-classical compositions within the course of a single album. Agoria brings plenty of both qualities to the table, and across his prolific output the French producer has consistently been pushing the envelope of contemporary electronic music.

'Impermanence' is Agoria's fourth album, the first for his own Infiné label, which has served as another vehicle for promoting his broad-minded musical approach over the years with artists like Francesco Tristano and Danton Eeprom.

Agoria's previous albums featured collaborators as prominent as Tricky, Ann Saunderson, Princess Superstar, and Bauhaus' Peter Murphy, and 'Impermanence' continues this tradition. Once again a number of guest artists bring Agoria's vision of dramatic electronic music to life, from American singer Kid A, who opens up the album with the elegiac piano / cello ballad 'Kiss My Soul', to Carl Craig, who contributes vocals to the album's sensual techno hit, 'Speechless'.

Further guest stars include Seth Troxler and French singer Scalde, while Agoria's forays into the neo-classical domain, 'Simon' and 'Under The River' provide tranquil counterpoints to the melodic techno of tracks like 'Panta Rei' and 'Grande Torino'. 'Impermanence' is a great album despite and because of its versatility, and its creator has to be applauded for boldly injecting a sense of drama into electronic music that is so often sadly amiss.
