Record Makers is an independent label founded in 2000 by AIR and their associates Marc Teissier du Cros and Stephane Elfassi, following the release of their soundtrack for Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides.
Record Makers is devoted to showing that the French can make beautiful music for the world. We decided that the successes of acts like Air, Daft Punk or Serge Gainsbourg were not isolated "export wonders" and that French music has a strong potential, even if not exclusively dance or "Chanson".
Focused on production, Record Makers also handles publishing and therefore has a strong network in cinema, advertising and fashion: Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides soundtrack by AIR, Sebastien Tellier's motion picture score for french film Narco, DSL's work for Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme 2003 couture show or Record Makers' release of John Carpenter's 1976 unreleased soundtrack for Assault on Precinct 13.
