His releases as 2562, A Made Up Sound and Dogdaze have established Dave Huismans as one of the key producers promoting the crossover of dubstep and Detroit-style techno. Depending on whether his productions lean more towards the dubstep or techno end of the spectrum he releases on Bristol-based Tectonic label or on his own imprint, A Made Up Sound.

Exploring warped techno as A Made Up Sound and organic dubstep as 2562, The Netherlands' Dave Huisman is easily one of the most gifted and versatile producers of our time.

For his third album under his 2562 moniker he has left his Tectonic home-base to set up his own imprint, When In Doubt, entirely dedicated to the pursuit of his unique sound aesthetics.

'Fever' is something of concept album, in its entirety constructed from samples of old disco records. The resulting album couldn't be any further from its source of inspiration however.

It is a testament to its creator's creativity that 'Fever' betrays its historic heritage only in the most minuscule of moments - an orchestral stab here, a microscopic funk lick there - while achieving some of the most rhythmically advanced programming we have heard within the dubstep genre.

In comparison to its precursor, 2009's 'Unbalance', 'Fever' proposes a deepness that's more akin to Theo Parrish's rough sample tactics than Detroit opulence. Drifting, jazz-infused pieces such as 'Intermission' alternate with syncopated, next-level jackers such as 'Flavour Park Jam' on what is one of the most impressive and forward-thinking albums of the year so far. Essential.
